·Carisoprodol affects the central nervous system in addition to acting as a skeletal muscle relaxant. It resembles meprobamate, mebutamate, and tibamate in structure and pharmacology. Its slight effect on relaxed muscles is probably due to its sedative properties. Carisoprodol has modest effectiveness as an anesthesia, antipyretic, and anticholinergic medications; it is not hindering the transmission of neuromuscular information.
