If you just need pain medication for a little period of time, as while recovering from surgery, you shouldn't use Oxycodone extended-release capsules or tablets. Avoid using this medication to treat minor pain or when non-opioid medications work better. Pain that occurs infrequently or "as needed" should not be treated with this medication.
