Oxycodone and oxymorphone are both opioid pain relievers, but oxymorphone is significantly stronger. Oxymorphone is roughly 2–3 times more potent than oxycodone when taken orally, meaning smaller doses provide stronger pain relief. Because of this higher potency, it is typically used for more severe or persistent pain. Oxycodone is still effective but is considered a step below oxymorphone in strength.
