Tramadol is an opioid painkiller used to alleviate pain. It helps relieve mild to moderately severe pain and is sold on the market under the brand name Ultram. However, it also controls extremely painful conditions for which other therapies are insufficient and are severe enough to call for an opioid analgesic. It is also available as an injectable with oral tablets, capsules, and liquid.
