The Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products (FAMHP) requested that Abbott remove Reductil, the only sibutramine-containing medication that was approved and sold in Belgium, from the market for security reasons after the European Medicines Agency (EMA) recommended that the marketing authorisation of medications containing sibutramine be suspended.
