One opioid agonist that is utilized as an analgesic and antitussive is hydrocodone. Extended-launch forms of hydrocodone, such as Zohydro ER and Hysingla ER, can be used to treat severe pain at any time of day. In order to manage mild to severe pain, it is typically used in combination with acetaminophen. It is not recommended to utilize extended-launch hydrocodone for pain on an as-wanted basis. It is available as a pill, capsule, syrup, and oral administration method. 5–10 mg every 4-6 hours is the suggested dosage.
