Percocet is a drug prescribed to treat moderate to severe pain. It has two active components: oxycodone, a pain reliever of the opioid class, and acetaminophen, a pain reliever that is not an opioid. Oxycodone acts by changing the way the brain and nervous system respond to pain, whereas acetaminophen decreases fever and increases pain relief.
