Pierre Orbe, principal of DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx, has been named the 2025 New York State High School Principal of the Year by the School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS). Pierre Orbe earned this recognition for dramatically improving the school’s academic performance and culture since taking leadership in 2017. At that time, the school faced low graduation rates and safety concerns. Today, thanks to Pierre Orbe’s leadership, graduation rates have soared to 97%, college readiness has doubled, and student success in college preparatory courses has jumped to 91%.
