Udyam Registration is an official government registration process that allows Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India to get recognized and access a wide range of benefits. Introduced by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, this online system simplifies the earlier process of MSME registration and provides businesses with a unique Udyam Registration Number and a digital certificate. In 2025, the Government of India updated the classification limits for MSMEs to encourage business growth and expansion. As per the revised criteria, businesses are categorized based on their investment in plant and machinery or equipment, along with their annual turnover. A Micro Enterprise can have an investment of up to ₹2.5 crore and turnover up to ₹10 crore. A Small Enterprise can have an investment of up to ₹25 crore and turnover up to ₹100 crore. A Medium Enterprise can have an investment of up to ₹125 crore and turnover up to ₹500 crore. These revised limits allow businesses to grow without losing their MSME status too quickly.
